Until recently, a Macintosh user was able to remain mostly free of viruses and worms harmful on their computers. This is partly due to the fact that Mac OS X is based on Unix, the operating system is relatively immune to such attacks. Another possible reason could have to do with the fact that Mac has a market share smaller than its main competitors. However, this whole situation is a little changed on 14 February 2006, when a new virus has been developed specifically for users of Macintosh.
A file “latestpics.tgz,” is as tar-video included with Mac OS 10.5. This file Struck first in a popular location for Mac-based rumors and information, visitors to the site quickly discovered that the file is a worm. Although this worm is not lead to real damage to the Mac it strikes, it infects your list of friends on iChat. This worm will focus on Macintosh computers with OS X 10.4 or later on a Power PC computer (not Intel). Sophos and Symantec have a solution to the problem, but there is no simple solution, at this time. An official security patch is probably the Apple, but in the meantime, the user can add a folder, by an appeal notified when something has been added to the file management.
To activate, go to:
Library / Input Managers /
Then, with the right mouse button (or Control-click) on the file. * Choose shares files * If the file is not yet activated.
Click on the right hand column or check, click again on the same folder. * Choose a folder action .* *, then select Add a new script tender * default folder, the files Action Scripts.
If the task is complete, you receive a warning message the next time a file is trying to enter the File Manager.
CAUTION: This is only a work-around, not a complete correction. If you have an anti-virus, which is a real solution to the problem, it is from these sources, the problem, rather than the above.
